Selena Gomez’s new makeup line at the Brea Mall Sephora. According to Gomez, the beauty line celebrates “being comfortable with yourself.”

With a nod to her latest album Rare, Selena Gomez released a new makeup line, Rare Beauty, in support of mental health, on Sept. 3. Her inspiration for this new line of beauty products was to celebrate individuality and to decrease the stigma around mental health.

Gomez, who has publicly struggled with anxiety and depression, uses her social media and music platforms to raise awareness about mental health issues. The Rare Impact Fund aims to “reduce the stigma associated with talking about mental health and to reduce feelings of loneliness,” and aims to raise $100 million over the next 10 years to help underserved communities get access to mental health resources. 1% of all Rare Beauty sales will go towards the Rare Impact Fund.

With 48 shades of the Liquid Touch Weightless foundation and Liquid Touch Brightening concealer, there is something for everyone. In addition to the foundation and concealer, there is a variety of makeup products available, all under $30: liquid blushes, matte lip creams, lip balms, liquid eyeliner, 4-in-1 mist, illuminating primer, liquid luminizer, and an eyebrow gel and pencil. Along with the makeup products, Rare Beauty sells two makeup brushes, a blot and glow touch up kit, beauty sponge, cosmetic bag, enamel stickers, and even hair clips.

In Gomez’s teaser for Rare Beauty, posted on Instagram earlier this year, she talks about how “being rare is about being comfortable in yourself.” She said that she wants Rare Beauty to be more than a beauty brand, that she “wants us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and start embracing our own uniqueness.”
