Wildcat illustrator Amelia Garcia writes: “This piece is symbolic of how social media is sometimes our ‘entire life.’ It’s so easy for us to get addicted to Instagram and TikTok and other apps. For example, I used to watch YouTube shorts for hours, and although it was fun when I watched them, I felt horrible about myself afterwards and was disappointed at how unproductive I was. I was also losing sleep because I had spent so much time watching things online that the videos and sounds kept replaying in my mind. The art is to remind others that our ‘bubbles’ can be filled with other, more worthwhile and enriching, things like exercise, spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and hobbies that do not involve staring at a phone screen for countless hours.”
