Over 40 years ago, I wrote some articles for the Wildcat student newspaper about investing. I gave examples of what someone could buy, and over time, see a nice profit from. I used rare coins and baseball cards as good things to look at. Anyone that would have followed that advice would have made a lot of money.
Today, I want to talk about investing in something far more important, far more valuable, and far more personal to me and the citizens of Brea: YOU.
Each student in the Brea Olinda Unified School District is a future leader, a future parent, a future contributor to society. Having the best education — one that isn’t only learned from a school book, but from a coach, from teamwork, from a teacher talking about life skills — is key to having a good life and to making the world a better place than how you found it.
How can we, as a Brea community, do this? We can vote “yes” on Measure H, the school bond on this year’s ballot that will provide $160 million for new classrooms and many other upgrades to make the school experience better; things that will help teachers and coaches have better environments to enrich their lives.
I am willing to bet the “return” from this investment would be the best “profit” we have ever had.

Thank you Dwight. I was a student in the Brea Schools in. The 50’s and early 60’s. We were all proud of our school and education.
Today, after touring the facilities my NO turned to a strong YES. It is time for the citizens of Brea to step up, whether you have children or not (I don’t) and pass the bond. YES on H
