The Wildcat is one of the oldest continuously published scholastic publications in Orange County, with the first volume, a four-page black and white demitab, debuting in 1930. In the ensuing nine decades, the Wildcat has evolved from the demitab, to a 15 by 22.75-inch broadsheet, to an 11 by 17 tabloid (1980s to 2009), to a 12 by 12 over-sized magazine (2010-2014), to a full-color glossy magazine (2015-2020), to its current form, breaolindawildcat.com.
To preserve the hundreds of print issues that were saved over the years — from the 1940s to 2019 (when the Wildcat went completely digital) — the Wildcat staff has embarked on a year-long project to digitize and post to the website each issue remaining in its newsroom.
Click each year to enjoy the work of the Wildcat’s student journalists from the 1940s and ’50s, and the ’70s to 2010s.
