For the 14th time this season, girls’ varsity soccer blanked an opponent, this time shutting down, and shutting out, Buena Park High School, 1-0, in Wildcat Stadium, Jan.15.
With the victory, behind a first half Ashley Wolfson (’26) goal and another immaculate performance from goalie Gen Dauphin (’26), the Wildcats improved to 14-4-5 on the season.
From the opening kickoff, the Wildcats controlled the game’s tempo by consistently connecting on passes through midfield and to forwards Lizzie Choi (‘26) and Lily Ingallinera (‘28).

“All of our wingbacks were great getting up the field to attack and create scoring chances,” Dauphin said.
On the defensive side, Addie Criner (‘26), Kaila De Wit (‘27), and Alexa Harris (‘28) anchored the back line, stepping in to break up through balls and clearing dangerous plays before Buena Park could create chances on goal. The Wildcats defense consistently won possession in the middle third of the field, limiting Buena Park’s ability to move forward and forcing the Coyotes to rely on long balls and off-target outside shots.
“The defense allowed the rest of the team to generate our attack,” Evelyn Nethers (‘29), defensive center midfielder, said.
The lone goal of the game came in the first half after several attacking sequences kept the ball in Buena Park’s half of the field, wearing down the Coyote’s defense. A patient buildup through midfield led to a ball played into the right lower post where Wolfson finished the opportunity to give BOHS a 1-0 lead.

Buena Park attempted two late attacks before halftime, but the Wildcats’ defense, led by California Baptist University-bound Dauphin, shut down both tries, keeping the Coyotes off the scoreboard heading into the break.
In the second half, BOHS continued to apply pressure offensively. Despite several scoring chances — nine total in the game — created through crosses and quick transitions, BOHS could not extend their lead due to multiple saves by the Buena Park goalkeeper.
Though pressure increased from Buena Park, BOHS was “able to close down quickly and press as a team,” according to Bell Jansen (‘26), defensive center midfielder.
The Wildcats continue North Hills League play when they host La Habra High School (14-6-1) in Wildcat Stadium today at 4:45 p.m. The Wildcats previously defeated the Highlanders 2-1, Jan. 3.
